Living in a Watershed

A watershed is an area of land that collects all the water that falls onto it and drains to its lowest point. Watersheds can be made up of many smaller interconnected basins, or subwatersheds. Each watershed can have many subwatersheds. For example, the watershed in our community has five subwatersheds.

Everything in a watershed is connected. People, plants, and wildlife all rely on the environment around us. How we build our communities and the daily actions we take at home and in our yards can help (or harm) our water, land, and community.
